Vegetable-tanned aniline leather does not want to be conditioned every month. Most damage we see comes from over-treating, not under-treating.
Care
The whole routine.
Leather that is used looks better than leather that is stored. The single best thing you can do is carry it.

It got wet. Is it ruined?
No. Blot it with a dry cloth and let it dry away from heat — never a radiator or a hairdryer, which will cook the fibres stiff. The water mark will fade into the rest of the patina within a few weeks of normal handling.

There is a scratch across the front.
Rub it firmly with a clean thumb. Aniline leather burnishes — the oils in your skin and the friction will pull most surface scratches back down. Deeper ones become part of the character; that is the trade you made when you chose full-grain.

Should I be conditioning it?
Almost certainly less than you think. Once a year at most, a neutral balm, applied sparingly with a cloth. Over-conditioning darkens leather unevenly and clogs the grain — it is the most common way people damage vegetable-tanned pieces.

One side is darker than the other.
That is sunlight. Aniline leather tans like skin. If it bothers you, leave the pale side facing the window for a week and it will even out.

The elastic has gone slack.
Elastics are consumable. Write to the studio with your order number and we will post you a replacement.

Can I put a different notebook in it?
Yes. The cover fits any standard A5 insert, 148 × 210 mm. That is the whole point of it.
Warranty
Two years on the making.
We cover stitching, edge finishing and hardware for two years from purchase. If a seam opens or an edge lifts, send it back and we will repair or replace it.
Patina, darkening, scratches and stretch are not faults — they are the material behaving as intended, and they are not covered.
Out of warranty we still repair. Write to the studio and we will quote.
